Hey guys, sure this question has been asked a million times but didn't find a solution to my exact problem. My company just bought a new PC that has Windows 7 on it. My previous pc had XP and 9.1 worked great with it, however it died a couple months ago. We couldn't get Mastercam 9.1 to run at all on Windows 7. It never would recognize the hasp, which is the new USB style one. Did finally get X to run but it has graphic issues and I loathe X compared to 9. So we upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate to get the XP Mode. Got 9.1 to run under that mode but there are stability issues. Takes forever to load prints, data with surfaces or anything with lots of "stuff" on the screen. Or even getting back to main menu. For example if I delete something, then hit escape, takes a long time moving back to main menu. Is there anything better out there then "XP Mode"? Or is our best best to bite the bullet and do a fresh install of XP? Specs: Pentium Dual-Core 3.20ghz. 6.00 GM Ram ATI Radeon HD 2600/3600 Series video card Rates a 4.8 on Windows Experience. So seems to have enough to run everything fine. Has more power then my old pc and other pcs here, one that runs WorkNC and other 9.1, with no problems on either. So only difference between those three is this one having Windows 7 and those two XP. |

| Bite the bullet and move up in the Xseries and be better off.Other wise if you are felling you have to run 9.1 then install XP. I noticed you have 6 gigs of Ram. so you are running a 64 bit windows 7 right and if you decide to go to XP again with that amount of ram you better go with the 64 bit or remove half that ram. PS ATI cards do not play well with Mastercam but I have seen some of the newer 5000 series and up do ok but below that I would forget it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but really need move forward not back.

| Should also add I was able to get X to run in Windows 7. However 9 hasp utility will not read the Hasp in Windows 7, even though the X hasp utility sees it. Oh well, I live with XP Mode till I find something better or do a fresh install of XP. |

| What version of Masterca X are you using if it is Just Version X I agree not that efficient but if you are talking X2 or higher for get V9 X is way more efficient once you figureout how to use it. And you are trying to fight a battle to make V9 run in Win7 it's too old to run and was never intended for Win7. I would move forward or move back really the only way and before you know it there will not be an option with new computers to run XP. JM2C

Hi Jeffrey, How did you solve the issue with Win7 not being able to see the USB key? I am trying to get 9 and X to work on a Win7 Box. |

I have to use Windows 7 XP Mode, which I believe is only available on the Ultimate and Professional versions of 7 but could be run. I got X to work on Windows 7 just by updating the hasp drivers. But never could get 9 to work without using the XP Mode. |

| V9 however still is a No-Go. So far, I can not even get a reply from my local MCAM dealer on if it is possible to get it to work or not. But every thing I keep finding on-line is saying it will not work. |

If you are lucky to get either V9 or the first release of X to run in XP mode expect poor response for the system and some crashs. I know this not what you want to hear but it is the truth.
