Need Help!- Port B UART Err

Hello,

I am trying to get mastercam 9 to comm with my V2E3, we have it all setup and I can get the computer to transmit, but then the machine display says Port B UART Err. Can anyone help? Need to get this working asap

What communications parameters are you using?
Try sending from the machine control to your computer first.

we have been using any arrangement of comm settings to try to get it to work. we have the computer communicating to machine via ezlink but we would like to cut out ezlink and end straight from mastercam..

Not a problem using any ASCII terminal.
UART means Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter.
A UART error is usually caused by the 'handshaking' not being set properly.
If your cable is 9 wires or less you should use software handshaking.
If 15 or more you might try hardware handshaking.

we have tried both ways

Have you tried no handshaking?

You might want to check that you are not using FIFO buffers, control panel - system - device manager - com port - advanced settings - uncheck box for FIFO buffer. Windows 7 automatically turns this on.

I forgot about the FIFO buffer.
