I would like help with the lathe grooving cycle in mastercam. I have the geometry created properly but when I post the code the tool overcuts the groove. I would like clarification on the "back tool offset number" and also what, if any, cutter compensation designation used. For reference, without using any cutter comp designation the groove was cut oversize by the width of the tool on BOTH ends of the groove. I then tried to utilize a different type of cutter comp(reverse wear) and the groove was overcut only on one side of the groove. I do not know why but for some reason the regular "Wear" was unavailable so I could only use reverse wear. Mastercam version X4. I am using a fanuc control but do not have a proper post, I have been using the default settings. Perhaps someone could tell me what their "Go-to" settings are for using the groove cycle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| But I did forget to mention too that the grooving tool needs to be smaller than the intended groove or Mastercam won't write the toolpath. I've never really had problem with an oversized groove with the settings I attached. |
