Hey, so I got a problem. I have a profile I want to 4th axis mill, shaped kinda like a tapered cone. Something like the black spike in this image: http://images.spaceref.com/news/2003...ike.engine.jpg So if I start with a solid barstock blank, mastercam wants to plunge full depth and do the whole cut at once. I want it to take off nibbles. Should I just manually programing my own rough passes, or is there an option for multiple passes to final diameter on 4th axis contour parts? thanks! |

| If I remember correctly it depends were your z0 is, you adjust that in your tool profile on how deep to cut. I had the same problem on one 4th axis job and it took me a very long time to figure it out( I ended up offsetting it in the machine). once I figured it out it was stupidly easy. that was a long while ago and cant remember exactly what I did. |
