Hmmmm, I don't think you can, but you can open the file then save as diffirent file name. I stay correct, but any tuitive is welcome.
I am working with mastercam 9 and would like to learn how to merge programs. I would like to merge geometry from one program to anouther that uses similar tools and depths. thanks

The best way to learn is trial error.
You can do it by importing the toolpath from another MC9 file.
Go to Job Setup, hit the Import button, select the MC9, 8, 7, or GE3 file you want to import the toolpath from, then select the toolpath you need and apply it to your new part program.
You will have to re-assign profiles and probably change tool numbers but you will get the appropriate speeds, feeds, clearances, and work offsets for the path.
This does give you the option of importing the geometry also.
I use it all the time.
You can save the operations as an operation library, and import that way.
Sometimes this is safer because you can keep the tool numbers intact.
Piece of cake. Sort of.![]()
ObrienDave. MasterCam since V6. Gcode since 1983.
The nose you punch today may belong to the butt you have to kiss tomorrow.
Open the file with the operations you want. Delete all geometry. It will ask to delete say yes. This will leave all ops with no geometry. Then File then Merge. This is if the file you want to bring in on top is an MC9 file. Then reapply the geometry from the operations manager.
I remember like 10 years ago I thought this was awesome technology. I guess it was back then. Funny it's still the same in the latest and greatest version of Mastercam. Man it's come a long way....
