| Strange ? Normally, the tools are front or back or both, tailstock to the right I assume you have a lathe with a lower ( front ) turret ? Have you used the lower left plane instead of the upper left ? and defined your tools accordingly ? |

| pretend this is a manual lathe. but it is a cnc lathe thats where the toolholder is. its like the (haas tl) I knowtice when you draw your part out in mastercam you are always drawing it on the top side then you start doing all your toolparts and then you post it. but is it going to make any differnce with the g2 and g3 since they are oppistes. anyways how do I set mastercam so it can have the tools on the left hand side. |

| You can use upper right like a "normal" type CNC lathe with the TL lathe, since the tooling is still in the same orientation...i.e.: instead of an upside down tool on the upper side of the machine (normal CNC lathe) your tool is right side up on the lower side of the machine (manual/TL style lathe). Think about it this way...if you simply rotated the tool from the back around to the front, it is now right side up - like on your TL...it hasn't changed the way it engages the stock. IOW - X positive still moves away from center, Z positive still moves toward tail stock...etc...

| In your tool setup page there is an option to set the tool in the top or bottom turret. Select the bottom turret and the tool will show on the left side of your stock and from there you can draw on the bottom. |
