Surface Toolpath Confusion | | I never thought I'd see the day when I wanted to go back to Edgecam so someone help me out and convince me to stay. I used MasterCam V9 three years ago and then switched to EdgeCam for it's Solid toolpaths. Now I'm back to X4. I've done plenty of contours before this but can't seem to figure this one out. I'm trying to contour a part with a 3 inch fillet on two sides. I'm using a 2in tool to rough out my shape but cant seem to find a toolpath to get me what I want.
In edgecam I would just select rough solid and set my DOC/WOC and then check intermediate passes to cut down the spots in between with either a scallop height or by setting the parameters for the remain cuts. We also had an extra option for the boundry box to use that as tool contact area instead of for just actual tool containment.
So far the closest I've been is the Surface High Speed Core Roughing. The problem with that one is the XY stepover box. It has %, min, and max. I want it to have a max stepover of 1.25 and a min of .025 to semi-finish my contour but it tells me my value have to be within a certain range because of the XY stepover percent. If I change it to a min I want it says "Maximun XY stepover must be *** and ***". I can't find the balance of passes that I want.
Any suggestions?????? |
