I am rigid tapping in mastercam X5. I set Cut parameters to Tap. Underneath it shows First Peck .1 Subsequent Peck .1 and so on. When it runs the tap goes all the way down without backing up to clear material? I would think it should run in a few turns then back out and the go back in deeper and repeat until at final depth. What am I missing? |

| Your post would need the pecking capability added Code: pchpbrk$ #Canned Chip Break Cycle
pdrlcommonb
pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgdrlref, *sgdrill, pxout, pyout, pfzout, pcout,
prdrlout, *peck1$, *feed, strcantext, e$
pcom_movea
ptap$ #Canned Tap Cycle
pdrlcommonb
result = newfs(17, feed) # Set for tapping Feedrate format
pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgdrlref, *sgdrill, pxout, pyout, pfzout, pcout,
prdrlout, *feed, strcantext, e$
pcom_movea The pchbrk$ is for the G73 cycle, it has the *peck1$, but the ptap$ does not....so if I put a peck in the tapping operation, it will not post out an actual pecking routine. the * is to force that postblock into the NC file, if you set a zero ( tap in 1 go), you may not want to have a zero peck in the NC file...it'll sit there pecking all day. You may only need something like [if peck1$ > 0, *peck1$], so it would output a peck, only if you put a value in that field. Make sure your machine can do it, before modifying the post *** copy the post 1st *** |
