Buy me a Beer?

More info is needed ?
Is it an .ERR file ? or error message on-screen ?

what do they say ?
If it is an .ERR file
put it in a compressed folder, and attach it to your next message

Yeah - like superman said...we need mo info.

Error's should say what they are...and normally have a file related to them that you can post here.

You can also post the part file so we can see where the error might be coming from.

Oops sorry, it would help to have more info. I've attached a zip file with the part and error log files in it.

I just loaded the part and posted your 2 toolpaths without issue...!

1st question:

Have you ever used mastercam before...?
Is this a new seat (or new to you seat)?
Have you posted other programs successfully with this seat/settings?

I'd be surprised if the answer was yes to the last question, given the nature of the errors. If this is a new seat or you are trying some new posts/configs, then we have somewhere we can start.

If you are setting this up for the first time, you may want to consult some mcam books. Is there anybody you know that has any knowledge of mastercam? It is pretty simple to set up, but also pretty simple to screw up if you are just changing things that you aren't sure of.

You may want to try a new post, new machine, and machine def and see if you are able to post without errors that way.

Most of the time you can scroll through the program and the errors will be in brackets - it looks like a fairly benign error that may not affect the actual program...but I rarely get program errors, so I haven't had to become an expert at reading the .err files.

If anybody knows this stuff - this is the last couple of lines of the .err file - and the only lines that show errors:

15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - RUN TIME - PST(2656), NCI(90) - The math calculation/formula has an error
15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - RUN TIME - PST(2656), NCI(90) - The math calculation/formula has an error
15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - Successful completion of posting process!

and like I said - my X5 posted this program without the errors.

Buy me a Beer?

The re-assigned variables indicates differences between the MMD ( machine/control definition ) and the post settings---this part is of no real concern

but
Code:
15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - RUN TIME - PST(2656), NCI(90) - The math calculation/formula has an error
15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - RUN TIME - PST(2656), NCI(90) - The math calculation/formula has an error
15 Feb 2011 06:40:54 PM - <2> - Successful completion of posting process!
indicates that on line # 2656 in your post, something is not quite right, and requires further investigation, the value is taken fron line# 90 in the NCI file

Someone would need to look at your post
-attach it like you did the .ERR file

many thanks

Hey Superman and WallyL7 thanks for your help. I went back and changed the pst file to the default and everything went as planned.
It's true what they say.... a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. I'm pretty new to mastercam and cnc, i should have learnt more before mucking around with stuff i don't know about.
Again many thanks guys

Brent
