V9, Please advise on what file type to convert from Solidworks

What is the best file type to use to surface machine parts from SolidWorks in MasterCam V9?

I like parasolid (x_t) format - they are one of the cleanest formats available, and don't take up much memory. All of the lines/arcs and faces are always very clean.

How about a Solidworks file! Since you didn't specify any version # that's the best I can do.

If you are using a newer version Solidworks you will need to change the export settings in parasolid to version 14 to open in V9. Maybe even version 12 of parasolid. When you select save as parasolid there is an option box.

Or you can export as ACIS (.sat) file.
Make sure you select version 6 ACIS as solidworks defaults to the lates version it has available.
These file can be imported into ACAD also.
Before exporting, use solidworks to ensure the model is clean and accurate, with no errors or discontinuities.

Thanks guys for all the info!! WallyL7 and TheBigJW have the hot tip. Parasolid V12 works great, V15 is a no go. I'll have to work with my customer to see if V13 or V14 will work.
