Blame the end user?

Cutting Tool Engineering, October 2010: CAD frenzy vs. CAM phobia

It's your fault you are afraid to use the latest buggy version of Mastercam.

A long windbag story that did not say anything. The guys only adgenda was getting a plug for his company.

One thing I have noticed on here the MasterCrap cheer leaders seem to have their own websites selling CAD/CAM products. My next question is DID THEY ACTUALLY PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE SOFTWARE OR WAS IT next to nothing price for education. I don't recall where it was posted but this person was supporting CATIA, MasterCrap, Solidworks, and many others. Buying those three packages alone is close to $70,000 if a shop owner had to buy it. What I am getting at is, the less you pay, the less likely you are going to cry about the problems..........

It made me angry to read. If there software was released with any kind of reliability there would be a lot less apprehension about installing and using it.

And the dealers play that back and forth all day long.

"You can't afford not to have the latest version of Mastercam. We will save you money by the hour"

"Yes NX may be better but is will cost you more than Mastercam"

They are missing the human element; you can't purchase an upgrade to individual capability when you upgrade your cadcam software. It is like buying one of those new-fangled remotes that do everything but are so complex that you use your tvs original remote when you watch it. I know people who remain locked in Mc9.

As Mc9 becomes (sunset) or not supported I think a lot of people are going to look around at other packages. I know I am and I have X2. Look at the price of new software on special compared to the cost of upgrading. I think there will be more and more specials coming down as Mc9 becomes obsolete. The blood is in the water.

Hopefully it will be a buyers market for Cam software. As opposed to a sellers market for a change. Less of a monoply means better selection and service I hope. The consumer needs a break in this arena.
