Fine boring with shift in MC

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the fine boring function in mastercam. I'm trying to have the boring bar feed in, then spindle stop, then the machine shift some direction, and then retract the boring bar without scoring the surface of the hole.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am using Masetercam X2 and Haas Mini Mill.

    Thanks,
    - Andrew

#1 - You have to set in place a method of setting the tool common every time
ie the tool tip points in a certain direction, and the dial is pointing to the operator when orientated.

#2 - Run code thru the machine, to prove everything is correct

#3 - post out the mastercam canned cycle for "bore with shift", and adjust the post to be the same as #2

The shift amount needed is only small ( say 0.020" ), mastercam will always make it go only 1 way. This is why you do #1. ( or you will damage tools and jobs )

Mastercam uses a drill cycle for boring, (if your posts are stock standard it may be Misc#1 or 2)
