i need help in putting a wavy oil groove in a bore. how do i draw it and machine it on a tm2, no 4th axis. bore is 40mm and the groove goes between z-5 to z-13 in depth, and wavy all around in between, say about 6 or 8 waves. only needs to be about .5 on radial depth. was thinking of using a small lollypop type cutter, say 6mm dia. have not been able to draw the path yet, any help there? any examples around? if i get stuck i could just put a groove at z-5 and z-13, and then just join with 2 helical paths and 0 at 180deg apart. but a wave would be better. (yes i could do it by hand with a grinder, but the boss wants his expensive machine put to use) thanks |
