| good afternoon all! i have found these forums so helpfull and everyone on here nice enough to share their wisdom. i have a program that is 3d 1911 style gun grips. here is the question, how do i translate the art onto the curved surfaces (face of gun grips) ? i've tried everything wfrom being in solids mode to a straight wireframe model. wrapping simulation doesnt work as the surface of the gun grips is an organic surface. any help would be greatly appreciated. ive searched for the past 4 days and found nothing. should i purchase an artcam specific program? i figured with the money on mastercam spent i should be able to do it easily. thanks for any help chip |

| I'm guessing that the "art" is a 2D layer of lines and arcs ( a hunting scene or a chequer type of pattern ? What part of the gun stock is this to go on ? under barrel, grip, or rear stock where you want to put it may involve a different approach I'd guess you would look at projecting the "art" onto the surfaces then selecting those projected entities as the "cut lines" geometry for creating the toolpaths The command for projecting the "art" onto surfaces is "Xform Project" IMO, the operation for toolpaths would be the "Surface Finish Project" |
