I drew a tool using Metric and saved the MCX file. I then went to the tool manager, created a custom tool, selected the MCX file. When I set the tool center position, it puts the center point in a completely different point than what I choose. When I click the center point button I select the point of the cutter which is around -66 X and -237 Y. It returns to the dialog box and the coordinates show X-237 Z-66 (The X coord goes to Z and the Y coord goes to X). If I then click the draw tool button the center point it way up at X1699 Y 6030. Do I have to change the coordinate system of the tool file in some way?? I am using X3. Thanks Shawn Last edited by slammers; 06-04-2010 at 05:35 PM. |

| your tool should be drawn in TOP view/wcs/plane. If still have problems attach tool file so I can look at it. I like to always draw the tool in its own .mcx file. I also like to draw the geometry at X0 Y0 Z0. So far I have NEVER had any issues with hundreds of custom tools. |

| Hey Plasticland...here's a thought...why don't you pay the administrators for your cheesy advertisements instead of spamming them here. ![]() ....Sorry guys - hopefully plasticland's blatant hijack is over... ![]() but, I have done it like Cad01 and also have designed hundreds of custom tools successfully. From hand ground ones to off the shelf tools that you want mastercam to be closer to the actual shape of, it is a really easy system to use.
