Need Help!- part labeling and etching

Hello all.

can someone tell me how to quickly add labels to parts?
I have to cut 1000 pieces of the same part, but with different numbers
starting with #10000, 10001, 10002, 10003 up to 11000.

Some controls have an engraving function that will do sequential numbers.
That would be the easiest way.
I know Fadal, and I'm pretty sure, Haas controls will do that.
AFAIK, MasterCam will not do that.

Can this be done in autocad?

Yes you can do it in Autocad, but you will have to "explode" the text then....or.... when in Mastercam use the "Break Drafting" command. If you don't do one or the other you will not be able to apply a toolpath to the elements.

FYI.... for the incrementing of the numbers there is (was) a free utility available that let you select a number placed in the file. You could then copy and increment the number quite easily by just clicking the mouse (no constant typing). If you need/want it I still have a copy of it.

I am not planning to use mastercam.. I will be using TOPS for Trumpf lasers to cut the parts.
I would like to try that free utility that you mentioned in your post.
