Using MC Mill V9, the software freezes or becomes unresponsive (I am assuming it would do so forever as I left it alone all night with no change) any time a save command is clicked. Open, list, and import commands all work fine. I suspect it is looking for a network drive, some missing folder or something else as the "save" dialog box does not appear. My question is: Is there a location (in an ini file, registry, or otherwise) where MC keeps the most recent save location (i.e. how does MC know where to start when the save command is clicked)? I have checked the Screen configuration page, searched the registry for several different values (.mc9, mcam, mill9, mru, etc.). The problem is only in the mill software, not the lathe or wire. I am sure that reinstalling the software would fix the problem, but that seems like a lot of work for something this simple. Any thoughts or deep obscure MC knowledge that can help? Thanks, John |

| Try letting Mastercam regenrate a new config file --sounds like the paths are corrupted--a directory deleted or something along those lines. ( you could select the metric version and try to save---general settings should be similar, but obviously some values will be metric To create a new config file rename your mill9.cfg to mill9-old.cfg and re-open Mill ( found in the C:\Mcam9 directory ) ( you can edit the .CFG wit a normal text editor ie Cimco or Notepad ) You can then compare old to new to bring across any customizing |

After reinstalling the software from scratch, the problem still existed. So back to the registry for more poking. In the \HKEY_USERS\VERY LONG HEX ID\SOFTWARE\CNC SOFTWARE, INC.\V9MILL\FILE GET\STATE section of the registry, there is a value called window position. Somehow my "save" dialog box had been positioned off the screen. The key provides 4 values separated by commas (I assume these are x/y locations for the dialog box). Two of my values were negative. I replaced these values with the values from my lathe section, all positive, and TA DA!!!! everything is cool. I have no idea how it happened, but it's fixed now and that is all that matters. I realized now that when I thought MC was unresponsive, it was indeed unresponsive but only because it was awaiting input from me in the save dialog box that was conveniently positioned off the screen. Brilliant. |
