Need Help!- WCS Problems

I run into this allot. I am trying to place a new WCS on a corner of a part by geometry and it doesn't give me option to place the arrows going the correct direction. Can somebody tell me how to get them the way I want them? Most of the time it gives me the correct option but sometimes it just wont allow it to happen. I am stumped. Basically Flip the part on its side and place a new WCS at the top left corner with the Y points forward the X to the right and the Z up. Something so simple I am sure is being a real pain.

If you are doing it "By Geometry" you MUST use LINES. Any spline or arc will cause it to fail.

Its always using lines. Its the corner on a block. Sometimes it gives me 4 view options and the correct one I need isnt there. Sometimes its 5, 6 or 7 options and then the correct orentation view of the axis arrows is there. I don't know why it does this or how to fix it.

I forgot to say that the first line you select MUST be desired the X axis and the second line MUST be the desired Y axis

Yep try different combos of the 3 lines and no dice. If you got X4 I will post the part file and a screen shot of the view I need and you can see if you can make the magic happen?

The view I need is in yellow. Here is the part file. For the life of me I cant get it to work. I have tried everything.

Have you tried rotating the WCS? In the lower right corner, left click "WCS" and then select "Rotate WCS". You should get a box where you can rotate the WCS around X/Y/Z by a number of degrees.

WCS - View Mgr - Geometry....

Pick the line that represents X+ and the Line that represents Y+.

I've never had it be wrong when I pick it that way.

Picking an arc will get you a plane, but it never have the axis pointing in the right direction. It's OK for geometry construction on a face, but not for toolpath.

Mike. That's how I do it as well. Try doing it to my file as shown on the photo. If you are able to get the arrows going that way please tell me how.

If you can save your file as X3 instead of X4 I could try it.

1st create a line from the intended Datum going in the Y+ direction, the junction of these 2 lines will be X0,Y0,Z0

now set the "WCS by Geometry" by selecting the line going X+ , then select the line you created going in the Y+

You will get the dialog choice box on-screen, view 1 of 5 is what you want
