igs files in mastercam x2

Hello to all
this is my first post in this forum I have worked with master cam for 2 years now and I am trying to machine a part from a igs drawing. would one of you more advanced users please take a look at these two drawings and do a master cam part file for me so i can look at what is going on so I may have some ideal on how to process these files into actual parts that i can machine.
Thank you for your time

These Iges files are NOT drawings.
They are 3D parts.
I was able to import them just fine.
What exactly are you having trouble with?

i can import the files just fine .
I have never worked with these file types before.
How would you make a tool path to machine these parts?
I am trying to use surface finish contour i get a tool path but the tool wants to cut the holes for the grips also .
what procedure would you use to machine this part?
I selected the top 2 surfaces and the bottom of the grip and the side edges to generate my tool path.
I just have never done this type of work with a solid model.
any suggestions?
thank you for your time and help
ghostlx
I would be happy to post the master cam file that I have for review if that would help
thanks

Hi again, I imported one of the Iges files and made a quick example toolpath with a ¼" ball mill, I can send you the file by e-mail if you give me the address, (to big to upload here).

Like you stated sir earler if you post the file we can tell if it is a 3d part or a 2d for cutting and what to use. just because it is a Iges (I guess) file does not mean it is a part to be surfaced.

Thanks Cadcam

3d solid files in mastercam

3d solid files in mastercam. I usually create curves (lines, arcs, splines, etc) on edges of part. The curves can be treated like a wireframe to create toolpaths. It helps if the curves are a different color than the rest of the solid.

I agree if it is a solid model as you will get clean no dup entity's But Iges is not a solid model it is a surface model and you get unwanted splines and many edges due to there being an edge for every surface edge that meets .
