Ok...
With other motors they say you need a bigger VFD when running single to 3 phase using your VFD.
ie: 3HP motor 5HP VFD.
I was wondering if that might hold true with the Chinese VFD/Spindle packages on Fleabay as well. Some of them advertise single or three phase input, but I was wondering if you could get full power with consistent wave forms on those package or if you should plan your cuts to limit horsepower to about 60%, or if you wanted full power if maybe you should buy your spindle and VFD separately so you could get a bigger VFD.

I doubt that the rule's any different for Chinese motors. This might be why so many people report problems with their Chinese-supplied VFDs. If you don't have 3-phase power, you're probably better off getting your VFD separately. I'd recommend a Hitachi (sized appropriately, and make sure it can run off single phase - some can't.) I've had good luck with them, and with Dealer's Electric, which sells them.
