    Default Stock to leave function

If I'm cutting inside a hole, and I want to leave an extra .020" I would enter .020" in stock to leave box?

If I'm cutting an outside of a square and I want to leave. 020" same thing? Just enter .020"?

Madcam knows if I'm cutting inside or outside of a part?

I should specify I'm talking about in the toolpath box where it says stock to leave

    Yes, that is correct.

    Something just wasn't right.

This is what i've found. I'm using contour curve command in 4th axis indexed in newest version. let's say I'm machining the female shape of a bullet in a chunk of aluminum. I already have the shape close, but now I want to cut it in 2 stages. I set stock to leave at .020" for first stage, then 0 for second stage.

well with the stock to leave at .020", it just changes the Z depth by .020". the dia stays the same in both operations. I wanted the whole 3d shape to be shrunk by .020" which is not what's happening.

You might have to post the model. It shouldn't just make a change in the Z.

As of right now I just made a cutter a bigger diameter, kept the tool number the same and made different tool paths with same cutter. that seems to be working good so far

I am using Stock to Leave every day and it works as expected for me but it might be something with the latest version. Can you make a test model with paths that doesn't do as expected?

I just did it again today and it's working like it should.

I duplicated layer before, then recalculated toolpath. this may have been the issue before.
