| 2 1/2 d cutting without a 3 d model I do a lot of what I call cookie cutter work (shapes nested on sheet material) and here is all you need to do it. 1. create a plane the size of the sheet stock I am using (example 96,48,0) This might take as much as 3 seconds to do. Select this surface to export to Madcam. 2. draw closed curves on or above this plane for profiling or other 2d functions. 3. I like to zero the tool tip at the top of material and use absolute in profiling strategy. Example, bottom level minus .75 and stepdown of .375 for 2 passes in 3/4 plywood. We all know or are learning the very deep capabilities of Madcam but I just wanted to point out that it is equally good at simplistic tasks as well. |
