Facemill tool data

I'll start off by saying I am very new at MadCam as well as Rhino3d. I have been working with Rhino for 2 years, but only about 6 months with MadCam. Anyways I wanted to see how others are entering facemill tool data into the tool library. I basically used the corner rounded endmill and inputted the radius of the cutter (10mm round insert, so 5mm) and put in the cut length at 5mm also. Then used the major diameter as the cutter diameter (50mm).

Does this sound like it would work? I havent tried it out in an actual cutting operation yet. But, like I said already, I wanted to see how others might be doing it.

Thanks, SFL

I'm not following you exactly, but I _always_ define the cutter as it is.

I apologize if my problem is not very well described. Basically I wanted to know if entering a Facemill with rounded inserts into madcam as a corner rounded Endmill would be an effective way of defining the Facemill tool for madcam?

Thanks, SFL

Yes, that is how you would do it. If facing, just make sure to have your tool extend off the material enough so that the effective diameter (tool Ø - insert Ø) is adequate enough to clean up the face.
