| Hi All, I am using MadCam to mill out jewellery from a flat 4.2mm sheet. Its designed in SolidWorks and imported to Rhino, the file is approx 28mb. I have set-up the sheet with lots of different pieces laid out on a 310x170mm area. When I select the model with madcam it take about 10-15min to recognise it and when I go to calculate the z roughing or z level finishing it gives me an out of memory error after a few seconds. However, Rhino is only using 700-1000mb of ram..... Is there a way around this? Can I run certain areas at a time or is it just a case that I have to break up the sheet into smaller sections? Also, the back of the sheet is less complicated and runs fine just so you know... Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Richard |

I have a new xeon and 4gb of ram on win 7 64... That's why I was confused... The problem was I had done a linear pattern in SolidWorks and set the offset to small, that created a sharp edge, when filleted it, it ran fine..... Was small and easy to miss, that said I don't think it really should have caused the error..... I have a question though, a plan on setting up sheets of different jewellery. I want to divide up the 300x170 sheet into three 100x170 sections and then mix and match jewellery types e.g. "A, C and D" or "B, C and F" etc. So my question is, is there a program or can you guide me to a good place to learn to join G-Codes together to avoid re-running the path calculations in madcam... Ideally the program would be able to offset the start position in the code as the sections may start at 0,0 or at 100,0 or 200,0.... Any help would be much appreciated ![]() Thanks, Richard |
