Newbie- Editing a toolpath

I want to alter the linework of a toolpath. What is the procedure? I have exploded the group, erased unwanted segments of the path, and regrouped the linework. The toolpath does not post, the post is blank, and the toolpath does not show in the simulation. Also, I have observed that you cannot change the name of the toolpath, or make copies of the toolpath linework.

Does anyone have some guidelines?

The type of editing you are attempting to do is not yet supported in madCAM. Hopefully it will show up in madCAM 5. However, there is a way around this for some simple cases.

If you ungroup a toolpath and edit it, the post will fail. I've noticed that too. However, if you use the "along curves" toolpath and reselect the machining curves you may be able to get it to work. It's a crude workaround, but it might work for you.

As for renaming the toolpath I think you can and it will still post. However, your new name won't show up anywhere else (like in the post documentation that pops up). At least that's what I'm seeing in a quick test.

As for copying toolpaths, yes, this is definitely possible, but not as you might think. You cannot just use Rhino's copy command. You need to copy the toolpath using Window's copy feature (like ctrl-C) then paste it in the same location (ctrl-V). Then take the new copy and move it to the desired location.
