I just realized we had this forum...
Back in Aug. '08, I put out an RFQ here for some machined parts (what else would it have been for?), and while Stan did quote me an excellent price, I jumped at the low ball offer of another user. My problems with this user are mostly my own fault due to poor communication and allowing changes to the spec I had designed. The parts arrived, four parts I needed were missing, and so I called up Stan to get them ASAP. He got the parts out extra fast, and at a very reasonable price.
A few months down the road, the the folly of the design changes had users of the product melting aluminum where steel had been intended. Again, called up Stan got 28 parts out the next week at a great price again, including one set shipped directly to one of my customers who had been waiting for a replacement for several weeks.
In the end, had I gone with Stan The Man in the first place, I would have actually made something on this, instead of loose money. |
