    Default Converting art to .dxf

Hi everyone. I have a project in mind where I want to take a picture and convert it into .dwg or .dxf format. It's pretty simple. It's the Klingon Symbol (I'll try and attach a picture) and I want to feed it to AutoCad or something similar so I can generate G-Code and machine it into a piece of aluminum.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Load the image into AutoCAD and trace over it. That's the method that I use.

That's usually what I end up doing. I'm just looking for faster, easier, you know.

There are programs with an "auto-trace" function that will try to find the edges and create a line around them. But if you look carefully at the results, they are usually rather wiggly on a small scale, and trying to clean them up takes a lot of time. If you just trace it, as Ger advises, you get clean lines with less hassle. Some pictures have too much detail so you're forced to auto-trace, but your logo isn't like that.

I found a program called reaconvert 7. The 'Basic' version will scan in a bunch of different formats and convert to a bunch more, including .dwg and .dxf. I fed my .png into it and it came out with a nice .dwg that loaded nicely into AutoCad. It's only $49.99 for the Basic version. The Trial version is good for 15 days. If I like it and use it enough I'm gonna buy it.

    I would suggest CorelDraw
its 25 per month and you can buy for one month if necessary
example you buy today use a month then you buy next when you need 2 month later or pay ongoing the months

CorelDraw has a very great tracer, also you can reduce nodes to the minimals so it sure smooth

what is mightbe an issue these programs using beziers and can not export ""circles""

what iam attaching dwg first I made in corel then in draftsight added the circles..

as Gerry pointed out simpler to redraw it..
    this is a simple shape..
I have to work with logos daily and this would be the simplest for this

you also can try inkscape what is free, and has autotrace

in my meaning a tracer don't worth that money.. because all of them using almost same algorithm
and your result pending indeed on sttings
