Default Sherline 5400 CNC mill problem x-axis off the end

I have my Sherline 5400 CNC mill working, but I have a little problem. I advanced the X-axis far enough that neither Jog- nor handwheel will take it back. My guess is that the leadf screw is no longer in the base for the Y-axis. I turn it on side, and the klead screw seems to still be in the right place. How do I fix this?

I'm not familiar with your machine, but some of mine have a "second limit" switch that will let you jog or hand wheel out of the oh crap zone.
A simple option, if you can get at it, is to E-stop and / or power down the machine and spin the lead screw by hand.
On one of our older lathes, that's the only thing that works.

    Good luck.....Rob.
