    PCI 1 port parallel card

    Heya
I have got Proxxon CNC micro mill. My computer has no parallel port.. so I have bought a 25 pin parallel port PCI card. However when I enter the 4 digit Hex Decimal number found in device manager-ports(com+lpt) resources into port 1 location this does not seem to correspond to the parallel port output. Is it possible that this is the location for the PCI card. If so how do I find the true address of my parallel port
    Thanks Noyloj

    Run this file.

This program will scan your computer and generate one or 2 files in c:\
The smaller file lists the ports found, the larger one has the parallel port info near the end.
Put the .exe file on your desktop and close other programs before you run it. (The dialog box may be hidden under some other window)

Can't help you with that as I don't run Vista. It worked on my XP machine with not problems. I simply double clicked on the exe file and it extracted and ran.

The reason 'access denied' is because program could not write report file to the root of the C: drive.

Probably needs some sort of compatibility mode in the shortcut.

These same name as the (dot).zip file with .exe extension.
You have to extract it from the zip file.
Some antivirus software will try to defeat it too, but (IMHO) is harmless.

After further investigation this program runs:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo32.exe
and redirects the output to C:\SSportinfo.txt

    see screen shot below..

You can run the program yourself and it should show you what you need.
Command line options (captured by alt-prtsc). I ran it from dos prompt with /? option.

Use the computers utilities to find out what you need.

From the start button cut and paste the bold program line, and with any luck you will run the program.
