| Not sure about Mitsi servo amps but it sounds like it may be a simple port / pin problem. Double check your ports and pins setting in your interface software and that the wires are correctly attached. I beat my head against a wall for day until I realized I had inverted the pin numbers for step and direction. Good luck. Warren |

| That was what I figured. The Mits encoder is extremely high in counts, and so far as Mach is concerned, a pulse is a pulse, so one step out is going to be enough to cause one encoder count. Mach can only output a relatively low pulse per second rate due to the parallel port hardware, as I understand it. So I think that is why you're only getting slow motion, even at maximum step rate. I think you'll need to go with a much less precise encoder in order to get more speed out of your system, something on the order of a 500 to 2000 line encoder, depending on whether you can use the signal in quadrature mode or not.

First you don't need a different incoder, you need to set up electronic gearing to work with mach. The interface voltages are not the same for the drives and 5v breakout boards. There is a lot to explain... feel free to give me a call (east coast) Erik 215 880 6385. |

| The drives work fine on 5v signals, you just have to read the manual right. There is an error in the manual. Like said above the slowness is caused by the pulse count of the encoder/drive. Use Parameter 3 to divide the counts necessary to move a given distance. If parameter 3 is set to 10 then the steps per rev is divided by 10 so you have 13,107.2 steps per turn. Parameter 21 needs to be set to 0001 for step/dir input. It defaults to 0000 which is CW/CCW input. These Mitsubishi drive and motor sets are great. I have a few more laying around for some more projects. 2x 1kw, 1.5kw, 2kw, 3.5kw, and a 5kw. |
