| How fast can a 7/16" alltread, used as linear drive, go in terms of "ipm"??? Scrap aluminum plates that I got from work: $0 1"x2" and 2"x2" tubing: $50 Harware: $75 Controller, Drivers and motors: $350 A headache and loss of hair for setting up the cnc: priceless How costly is your router??? |

If you want 100ipm with 14tpi that's 1400 RPM Anything over more than a foot long at that speed will start to whip. 3/4" UNC is still not too big and is 10TPI For 100ipm you would need 1000 RPM Is your target lots of seek speed? Do you intend cutting lots of air? If you are using a 10000 RPM cutter, then that feed might be reasonable.

| 70 ipm with allthread and 60oz motors is pretty impressive. I wouldn't think it'd go much faster with bigger motors, unless you running at a very high voltage.
