Question Running Mach3 on a little Acer One

I'm currently using a desktop PC to run mach3 and my desktop-type CNC Router with only a 2'x2' footprint.

I also have an Acer one laptop, which I'd like to use for portability reasons.

Operating system: Windows XP Home
CPU: 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270
Memory 1 GB
Display 8.9" 1024x600

But Mach3 doesn't fit in that little screen (1024x600 resolution) the bottom part of the window goes below the screen, is there any way to "override" that resolution limit???

What motion controller(USB) is also available besides Smoothstepper that support Mach3???

Buy me a Beer?

Try "Auto Sceen Enlarge" in General Config.

There is the NC Pod, and DSPMC http://www.vitalsystem.com/web/motion/dspmc.php

and the G100

Thanks for the update!!!

The "Auto Screen Enlarge" option did the trick, ever thou half of the"OK" button on General Config window is below screen level.

Autohide taskbar is ON...

Is there a way to "trick" the resolution limit, let's say like "downscaling" resolution to make EVERYTHING fit into screen???. Any kind of patch???

Some apps like D2nc don't fit into screen.

If you don't need everything on the default screen, maybe one of the simpler screens would work for you. Or you can build your own, if inclined.

Make sure you switch of all the power saving in BIOS.
And see if there is a CPU throttle setting, set it to 'always fast' or '100%'.
When those laptop power save options kick in, it freaks out Mach3.

Acer one with Mach3

I was in staples the other day and they had the Acer one on display.
I had my thumb drive with the Mach3 demo instalation files on it and it installed nicely and I had no problems with stuff fitting on the screen.

I "did not" install the pport driver. I think if you are using a motion control card, they would make a great little machine controller. They also have a VGA out port to hook up an external monitor. I was looking at using it on the front of my machine for the little keyboard it has and adding a second screen and possibly removing the small screen. But I am happy with what I am currently using. At least today.

Let us know how it works out. I using the dspmc so I already have the motion control card. It is connected to the network port, not usb.

Not all laptops will let you manually set everything. I have an old Think Pad that has manual CPU speed settings, as well as energy savings. It runs the Mach test just fine. But my Panasonic Toughbook with touch screen does not allow manual CPU speed setting, and is unusable.

Just set up Mach3 on an Acer Aspire One netbook. Came across the same problem of the screen depth being too small. I found a fix. In the windows display properties dialogue, you can go to the settings tab where the screen resolution can be changed. If you click advanced, you have the option to change the DPI setting to a custom value. I changed this to 85% and after a reboot, the whole Mach screen fits perfectly on the 1024x600 screen!
