    Problems Getting Thing Going

A short history. Some years ago now I set up my system before I knew what I was in for, LOL. Brian Barker sorted out some thing and wrote an XLM document for my system needs, Mach 3 configurations. I never fully implemented that system. I lost track of what I was doing and got distracted by other hobbies. Back to the present, I recently made some changes to my equipment. I added a salvaged PC Case to house my controls. I have had, and am still, experiencing issues with the wiring. Here's what I'm getting at. Can Mach 3 lose its configuration if not used? And how do I implement the XML doc. , can I drag and drop it into my Mach folder. I have no idea what an XML doc. is anyway. The problem is. I get movement in all axis but it's dirty, crunchy, and one motor just whines. It all worked smoothly before I got distracted about two and a half years ago, roughly. Can anyone assist???? I use Mach 3, Gecko 201's, a CNC4PC C-10 BOB with its attending power supply, on a K2XCNC 2514 Gantry. It's their control system I'm dealing with. In closing I must also say that most of my issues with the wiring have be dealt with here at this forum with help from our members. Thank You guys.

    Hello,

An XML file is an Extensible Markup Language file. It is a windows file type that can contain data or text in a very specific format. If you double click on an XML file is should open it in IExplorer and you can view it. Yes you can drag and drop or cut and paste it into your Mach directory, BUT, it will overwrite the existing file that is there. You might want to rename the old XML file first to .old or .bak or .jnk or something you can remember before you copy the file over.

As for the motor noises, sounds like they need to be tuned. The other XML file might take care of your problem. I am not much of an expert on the motor part yet though. You might want to go into the config->motor tuning and change the settings.

    Mark

Thanks Mark, I made two copies of the XML file when I first received it so I don't think it will cause any problems by overwriting itself.

    Unhappy In Deep Sh##

I have wired my control system, checked, and, double checked every connection and this is what I get. One motor almost has some movement, and in only one direction. It has an ugly, grunting, grinding sound, and, a high pitched whine. When I try to tune it nothing happens. I only have one arrow key that functions, on the X axis and only to the left. So jog function is non existent. The window to configure the motors will not let me tune any other axis, just the X, such as it is. I have reset the step and direction pinouts to the proper pin settings, they also match the information on the XML doc. I was able to find that, but I can't say I understand anymore than that. I think I need real assistance here. If anyone can assist on a one to one basis I can be available here on Thursday May 29th at 9:00 a.m. EST. I will check in to this thread in the morning to make a connection. Thank You kindly.
