Mach3 Wont Run - Setup Help

    Hi All my First Post!

i have been working for 2 weeks trying to get mach3 to run my controller and motors

    im using windows 2000

    mach3 loads no problem

    i have done this:

Entered Bios Port Setting "SPP 378"

Gone to ports and pins in mach3 changed port 1 into "0x378" Clecked port enable, kernel speed = 25000Hz Port2 disabled

Motor outputs x,y,z enabled (Green ticks)

The cnc controller is made by damen cnc and came with the pin set up

    PIN:1 spindle
    PIN:2 DIR X
    PIN:3 STEP X
    PIN:4 DIR Y
    PIN:5 STEP Y
    PIN:6 DIR Z
    PIN:7 STEP Z

    ETC.....

Then in motor out puts i haved used that to changed the step pin# and Dir pin# & DIR low/active enabled & STP low/active

Still Nothing, Mach3 shows that the motors should be running (Simulation) but the motors dont move, i have all the correct lights on my controller has full power, i have set up the E-Stop so mach3 resets and have used mach3 set up guide to the TEE!!

i know theres just one little setting that i have missed or a setting!

i know my controller works and motors as i have used in using kellycam on another pc

    any help would be great!

    osha

    Hi,
First you need to make sure that 378 is the correct adress. Second you say that the controller work on another computer, that's good. The problem could be that the parallelport on this computer only outputs 3.3V and the controller needs 5V (laptop by any chance?)

If you have a voltmeter please meassure between ground (pin18-25) and pin2 (X-DIR) of the parallelport. Then jog in one direction, you should see very close 0V when jogging in one direction and close to 5V when jogging in the other.

    Cosha,

Does the Damen CNC board use opto isolators to protect the PC?

If so you may want to run - sherline mode (it's a check box setting in the setup area)

ok i started from scratch again!

    Bios SPP mode 378

    Re installed Mach3
