I'm new here and thought this looked like a great place to get some insightful knowledge. I'm also new to the CNC thing really. I graduated in manufacturing tech., but that was a while ago, with software I can't afford.. Anyway I have a small table top mill we are using to cut holes and slots in plastic and aluminum panels. I've done several now and have gotten the basics down. I am using Mach 3 and RhinoCAM One problem I have is the output G-code from RhinoCAM. It has a million different variations on output, but the ones I have tried don't seem to work with mach3 except the very very basic G-code. With the very basic G-code it doesn't set spindle speed or anything, but it will at least do complete cuts and moves, So I have been having to redo all the missing info in Mach3 after I send it the Gcode. What is the best output format from RhinoCAM to use with Mach3? or are there some funstions that RhinoCAM is using that I do not have turned on in MACH3? One of the common errors is that circles are not translated well and they are very jagged and incomplete. As if Mach3 does not recognize a curve only the points between them. Again I'm new at this stuff so i'm sure my question is a bit naive and my terminology is not correct, but hopefully someone will know what I am talking about and have an answer ![]() Thanks, George |

Did you find that? It has constant contouring off by default, but you can edit it (replace G61 with G64) if you wish to turn it on. (You can also edit the post-processor, so it behaves like you want it to.) That will deal with somewhat jerky motion issues, but it sounds like something else is going on with your circles. RhinoCAM is pretty good at recognizing circles drawn in Rhino; all I can think is that something might be seriously off in your tolerance settings. Or were your drawings imported from another application? This probably is something best addressed with Mecsoft tech support; they should be able to look at your files and tell you exactly what's happening, and how to configure the post to put in spindle speeds and any other missing information.
