USB and Mach 3

Have anyone tried USB adapted paraller port on Mach?
Have those adapters some fysical I/O address?
How it works at all?

A USB to parallel adapter won't work, but you can get an external motion controller that Mach3 can control via USB.

The USB to parallel may not work due to not many of them not being bi directional. Has anyone tried a PCMCIA card in a laptop with Mach 3. I can’t see why that wouldn't work or even try and get a second hand docking station for the laptop as most of these have the parallel and serial ports still on.

That's not the reason that they don't work, but all that matters is that they don't work.

PCMCIA cards have worked for some, but others have not been able to get them to work.

If you must use a laptop without a parallel port, the SmoothStepper is probably your best bet.
