    Z axis

Hi Everyone, not many posts to my name but i am stuck, stupid thing really but here goes.

First my build is posted under the CNC PROJECT link on www.foundry-fopars.co.uk.

So which way is the z axis calibrated??

do i set 00 at the top ( maximum clearance )or at the bottom (maximum plunge or cut).
If i set 00 at the top and the spindle drops to cut is the cut a negative number or positive

    i am using Mach3 as a controller

Z=0 is typically set to the top of the workpiece, with cutting depth being negative Z numbers.

    Hi Gerry,
Thanks so if Z0 is the top of the material being cutwhen the z axiz is home i.e fully retracted, then tih must be a positive number but then how do you ste homing limits if Z0 is neither up or down.

Everthing else is working and some sample code has been run but i am realy stuck here.

    Roger
