    G0's and Feedrates???

    Hello..

    Using Mach3.

from my understanding G0's and Feedrates are totally independant?..

My router is set at 10,000 mm/Sec and when I run G0 it rapids at that speed regardless of what my feedrate is?..

However, when I change feedrate % through the DRO my Rapids Speed also reduces... why...which is exactly what I don't want...

If you reduce your feedrate shouldn't that only change your G1 codes????.

Can anyone shed light on this... and please don't say to change feed speeds..

    A G0 should be a G0

    cheers

    Frans

Hi i dont know mach but im running a vmc,a g0 is rapid move you can not give a feedrate to a g0 if you want to tell your machine a feedrate you have to use a g1.Does that help? May be you could set in mach your rapid move to go slower or faster but it will always travel at that speed whit a g0.

    G0 is a rapid move.

    G1 is a feed move.

Yah, your machine should only rapid at one speed unless you use the rapid override to slow it down. Changing the feedrate should have no bearing on the rapid speed. A G0 is a G0.

If you use Feedrate Override with Mach3, it will slow the rapids. It's a limitation due to the way Mach3 works. There is a workaround. In the config page, check the box that says "no FRO on Queue". This should keep your rapids the same, but it also has a limitation. FRO will possibly have a delay when this option is selected.

It's all a limitation because Mach3 buffers the steps, that is, the steps are already figured out ahead of time, before they are actually sent to the parallel port. Once they get to the buffer, they can't be changed.

    Thanks everyone....

    Appreciate your comments.

I'll try switching off the Feed Rate override and see what happens...

    Will let you know

    cheers
