However, the problem i'm having is when i boot up the pc when connected to the mill, it wants to installl new hardware. Alsomst as if it's looking for a driver for the mill.
Also, unpon initiating mach 3 I get two messages plugin defective reload and gall dll defective found ignoring.
Did I possibly install mach3 incorrrectly?
i fi unplug the paralell cable i don't see xp looking for new hardware.
Can amyone help?Thanks

I can't help you with the pin-outs for your mill, but it sounds like you have your mill powered on when you boot XP. XP 'diddles' with the ports when it fires up to see what is connected - that's why it says it found new hardware.
Power up the PC without the mill powered up (i.e., no power to the drivers/motors), then run Mach3 and then power up the mill. If you do that, and you have followed the Mach3 install instructions correctly then that should fix that part of the problem.
For X axis try entering pin 1 for step and pin 2 for dir with a port of 1. Try all sorts of pin and port combinations - you can't hurt anything but be ready to hit power off on the mill or Esc on the keyboard if the mill runs away (unlikely though).
Download the Mach3 manual for more info on pins and ports and precise instructions for installing Mach3. You also need to know the port address, there are some common ones listed in the manual I think.
If you still get the Mach3 error messages I suggest you rebuild your PC with a clean XP install and re-install Mach3 (without the mill connected), then follow the sequence I mentioned above for powering up.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
