what is the best homing and limit switch setup?

I have converted a SouthBend 9X42 mill and I'm powering the knee for the Z axis. I installed the Hiwinn Ballscrews for X & Y, I have calibrated all axis now I'm planing the limit/ home switches for x,y & z. I think I would like to use the one switch setup for each axis and use stops at each extent to trip the switch. Should all three switches be wired in series with the switches normally closed or open.

You can connect all the limit switches in series trough the NC connection. For homing I recommend using optical switches for accuracy. I offer this index pulse devices that I also use for homing: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Index_Pulse_Card.htm They are very accurate, easy to use, and inexpensive.
