Smile Need help, regarding interfacing of NC Milling Machine with PC

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello everyone,

I am interfacing a vertical NC Milling Machine with PC through a serial cable. i am using NCnet Lite(Version7) software for transfering data. Following is the machine information:

Shizuoka Vertical NC Milling Machine (3-axis)
Model no > Mill Master AN-S
    Controller > Fanuc (System 6M)
How can i set the baute rate, parity etc of machine?

Machine is provided with 25 pin female port and PC with 9 pin male port.

    Problem statement:
When i connect the serial cable between Machine and PC and test the serial port through NCnet Lite software. the following message appears:
    Test Result
    DTR/DSR Signal ok
    RTS/CTS Signal ok
    Communication at baudrate Testing
COM1 is not ok at the baud rate 600
COM1 is not ok at the baud rate 1200
COM1 is not ok at the baud rate 2400

    Thanx for your time

Have you confirmed the comm port on your PC?
Look in the device manager and see what comm port is there.

The check your RS232 cable that you have interfaced to the machine to the PC. Send a file from the CNC back and see what the results are. You will probably just need to tweak the software to match the settings if you don't have the manual.

Need more help, give me a call.

I generally use a 3 wire cable with the hardware H.S. jumpered out.

You can use a BTR card to DNC to the machine which will provide unlimited memory.

Have you considered converting the machine to a modern controller (EMC2, Mach3, Flashcut, etc.)? I can appreciate that if the machine is working for your needs, then it doesn't need to be fixed. On the other hand, if you are going to use the machine beyond the near future, you may be better off converting, especially if you can do most of the work yourself. Just a thought.
