    motor tuning problems, I think

I purchased a first generation smithy CNC ready mill 12/40. The lead screw appears to be 6 TPI. Keling 1800 oz motors 1.8 degree x 3 and am using a Logitrol control and power system. MACH3 software and a windows PC 2.7 GHZ with XP which has a built in parallel port.

Problem When I set the machine to move 1" inch in X, Y, Z axis it will move .305". I have tried the MACH3 program which supposedly provides the correction. When I accept the correction a notice appears stating the kernal speed 25000 is not fast enough? How do I select the correct kernal speed for my computer? Or should I be tuning the motors differently?

    Thanks
    Jim
