    chinese motors

    Hello;
    I Just purchased a harbor freight 4 1/2in bandsaw.I left it unattended and when I came back to the shop the motor was "fried".I would like to replace with a better quality motor,maybe with some kind of thermal protection.Can anyone here help me on this ?

    thanks for trying...

    I assume it was running with no load, if it is a common single phase induction motor, it should run all day unloaded, so if it is fried return it under warrenty, although my experience with equipment with chinese motors is pretty dismal. If you keep it, just stick on a higher quality motor such as baldor etc.
