    Diamond 20CSB (Poly Gim) problem...

    Hey guys:

We have a Diamond 20CSB. It was purchased from Cubic Machinery in Chino, CA. It has live tooling that face the Z (Main spindle) & (Sub spindle). The motors come on then the machine alarms out.

code # 0104 Revol Tool 1 device amp alarm.

The machine was running fine. Do you guys know if this could be just the motor or a switch or? Cubic cannot give me any kind of estimate for this problem. They said it possibly could be the motor..and it may need a new one or replaced...but they cannot know untill they get into it. (No estimate on that as well).

Are there any other companies that work on swiss lathes that are local to Southern CA? I'm open for comments big time. This has stopped a job in it's tracks and that's not good. The machine was not run for the past 4 months or so. It made about 10 parts and now I've got the problem.

Any and all comments are welcome ASAP!

    Thanks,

    Ron - Ontario, CA

    POLYGIM

    HEI FRIEND,

HAVE YOU RECD MY PRIVATE MESSAGE.

THE PROBLEM YOU ARE FACING IS FROM THE SPINDLE NO 3 ie THE TOOL HOLDER WHICH YOU ARE USING FOR DRILLING,MILLING AND SO ON.

GENERALLY THE MOTORS AND THE SERVOS OF MITSUBISHI ARE THE BEST WHEN COMPARED TO FANUC/SIEMENS CONTROLS.

LOOKS LIKE THERE IS SOME MECHANICAL PROBLEM IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REVOLVING TOOL HOLDER SPINDLE NO 3.

JUST DISCONNECT THE MOTOR SHAFT FROM THE ASSEMBLY AND GIVE THE COMMAND FOR THE SPINDLE 3 TO ROTATE.

IF THE MOTOR ROTATES THEN FINE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ASSEMBLY.
IF NOT NOTE DOWN THE SERVO AMP ALARM NO AND PL LET ME KNOW.

    REGARDS,

    CHANDRU

    HEI FRIEND,

BEFORE DISMANTLING THE ASSEMBLY PLEASE DO CHECK THE PLC SW SCREEN. SOME TIMES BY MISTAKE SOMEBODY MIGHT HAVE MADE THE CORRESPONDING PLCSW FOR THE SPINDLE 3 OPTION ie THE REVOLVE TOOL OFF.THE PLCSW IS USER PLC CONTROLED.

    REGARDS,

    CHANDRU

Thanks for the info. My work doesn't want me to remove the spindles, etc. They are thinking everything over before they get it fixed or sell the machine.

    I really appreciate the responce.

    Thanks again.

I checked all the PLC SW screen info. Revolve tool enable is on.
I turned it off..and the spindle would do nothing (quiet).

I saw one that said chuck revolve..and that did nothing as well.

The spindle will try to spin..you can hear it...but after about 10-15 seconds...it goes into an alarm.

    Servo Alarm PR 0023
    EMG Emergency Spin

    T01 Can't Cycle Start 0102

I'm just about sure now that the spindle 3 & 4 need to come out to be checked and fixed or replaced.

    Thanks for the info again.
I made a list of all the info on the PLC Sw screen...if you want it..let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ron
