Turbo Cnc Stopped Jogging CNC

Hello,
I have a cnc mini mill that has a stuck z axis. I was trying it out by jogging it with turbo cnc 3.1. It was going fine, but now it won't move any of the axis' at all. I am new to cncs and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Murray,
Not a lot to go on here, but have you checked the power supply to verify it is still powering your drives?
What kind of drives etc do you have.
Was it working before it quit?
Do you have limit switches and did you hit one?

Help us help you!

Hello,
It is an Xylotex 3 axis board. When power is applied a red light goes on on the driver. The motors are CyberPak SM-101's. The X and Y axis' were working and the z axis was trying to work, but the lead screw needed oil. Is it possible that it is a program error and how would I check. The software is Turbocnc 3.1. It has limit switches and I am not sure if I hit one by mistake. How would I check?

Thanks

Ok, I am not familiar with your board, but you say it is trying? Can you use your hand, wrench etc (power off) to move the axis or is it bound up.

I would also upgrade to the latest version which is 4.01 and can be downloaded from www.dakeng.com . A lot of bugs and new features have been added since that version. You can even have it import your existing ini file. Sepaking of which, have you done your setup to configure your axis?

Before ruling out the program, I would make sure there is no binding of the z axis.

Hello,
I can turn the axis by hand, but it is really hard to do. It looks like there is a lot of dust on the lead screw.
I
will try to upgrade to the latest turbo cnc. The problem is that I can't jog the x and y axis. It was moving the x and y, but now it won't.

It does have limit switches. I am not sure if I hit one, How would I check.

Thanks

In the jog screen, you can hit the "L" key (no quotes) and that will disable the limit switches until you push the L key again or close the screen. If any of the axis are close to the end of travel, there is a good chance that is the problem. You also might try a G1 X? in MDI mode and if a limit is tripped, you will get a message so stating that a limit has tripped and I think in that version, it will also say which limit is tripped!

If it is hard to turn by hand, it will be hard for the stepper to move it also. You need to clean/lubricate as necessary.

Hello,
I tried what you said and nothing happened. I think it is a problem with the software configuration. It was working the first time I tried it, is there some way to restore the configuration back to a previous date?

Thanks

All that information is contained in the ini file (saved in the directory with turbocnc) and unless you saved a copy of the ini file before you made changes or can remember the changes, I know of no way to go back in time.

Hello again,
I was looking at the other axis' and it looks like they are also stuck and need a good cleaning. I think that my motors are not getting power (they are not locking up). How could I test to see if my motors are getting power?

Thanks
