| Hey Guys, I have purchased a Bridgeport EZ-Path Lathe (ROMI MFG), and it does not find home. Any suggestions ???? It is a 94 Model, ser #022-078730-325 The shop I bought it from I know fairly well and they were using it up until this started happening. I have worked on a few machines (mostly mills) Haas and Mori-Seki, but I am not at all familiar with these machines. I have a small shop and think, this little machine could still make some parts for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

I think that may be correct, I got the machine delivered today, and while I was at their shop I spoke to the man who was running it a few months ago when this happened and they quit using thew machine. He says The handwheel was moving a little jerky, so they turned it off to reboot the machine and when going to find home it bumped the tail stock and they decided to replace it with a Haas toolroom lathe instead of fixing it again. I got it real inexpensive,so I can work on it a little. I am new to this type of control, but I have the programming manual, and this machine has an upgrade that will allow moving the carraige manually before you home it out, so I will try to move it tomorrow off the limit switch and check it out. Thanks for the reply, I hope that is all that it is. Do you know of any resources for training on this control besides the manual ? Looks simple, but anything to speed up the learning curve would help. I do alot of offline programming, but I need to get familiar with this control quickly and it is very different from the Haas I am used to. Thanks Again |

| They were going to send me to a training class but by the time the class started I had figured it out. I'ts been 10 years but as I remember it has some conversationl programing if you have that option learning curve is quick. just go light on the feed or the tool post will twist. I'm sure if you have the desire to buy this machine and fix it you will have a real desire to learn it. good luck Joe |

| michael we have three of them, great little machine's easy and quick to program. i'll walk you through the programming process when you fix the home problem. now the home problem. does the machine hit the switch and keep going? if it does it's probably the drive or motor causing the problem. if it's a yaskawa drive and you send it to them to have it repaired, be aware that they change the parameters in the drive for that machine. you will have to call them and jump through a lot of hoops to get the info on changing them back. you can swap out the drive's to narrow down the problem but you will have to change the parameters in them due to x and z being a little different. you might also have to purchase an interface "thats not what they call the dumb thing" to change the paramaters, "depending on the drive". what year and model is the ez-path? we might have the documentation you need. hope this helps. |
