Quick change bit holder

I'm wondering if anyone has built an automatic bit changer for thier machine?

I am wondering if anyone has tried using a keyless chuck from a drill or if they are not built to handle the rotation speed of a router?

I'm interested as well. I am sure that the keyless chuck idea would be somewhat dangerous in a router though. They are designed for 2000 rpm, and are not dynamically balanced for higher speeds.

I've been considering a dual head machine- One with a router, and the other with more of a mill setup with a quick-change system. I need to drill and tap, as well as route.

Anyone out there with two independent heads on a gantry?

Great for a mill, maybe not adaptable for a router.

That is indeed a quick change collet system. But what I want is not only that but I want to hole pre-set tooling. I don't want to set my Z depth every time I change a bit. With holders that you dedicate to a tool you can measure it's length and if you don't break the bit or dull it you will not need to zet the z depth for it. You will just need to tell it length in the tool offset menu of the controller.

Keyless snap on chuck for Makita router. One would think I would have tried this search on the net before rambling on in here... One would be wrong.

Also ran into a couple of high speed Air drills that had similar rpm's to smaller routers and integrated keyless chucks.

For the minis out there - dremel produces a similar snap in model.

I'll eventually get around to ordering this thing, checking it out (unless discontinued) and seeing if it chatters my teeth out. If anyone else gets there first let me know.
