I picked up my eBay lathe with the Anilam Crusader ML control, got it set in place, wired the control, turned it on and all I get is a vertical glowing bar, about 3/4" wide on the display. When I push buttons on the control, there is no beeps or anything. This was supposed to be running when the shop shut down, but they claim that it won't run if too hot or too cold. I found the too hot problem, the muffin fan under the control hums but doesn't turn. This thing has to be used in my car port for now, I have walls on 3 sides but no front door, anyway it's not much if any warmer than outside temp. I have been busy with other work and haven't even gotten to check fuses and power supply voltages yet. If too cold is the problem I'll put a heater in the control cabinet. If I can't get the it running right away, I'm considering temporarily removing the servos and using steppers (I already have steppers, drives, parallel port breakout, etc.) until I can get the Crusader running or replaced with EMC2 and servo control card. I have some questions for anyone who may be familiar with the control. Is there supposed to be a beep when you push the buttons (like my crusader II)? Have you ever heard of the control not working because it was too cold? Thanks! Roger N |

| yes there is a beep when you press the keys. Try unplugging and re-plugging each board being careful to re-seat them in the mother board. the card cage might be deformed too, make sure it is not drroping, you might need to support it. if all fails get each board out and clean it with contact cleaner and brush. make sure the boards are dry before you turn the power on again. the motors wont be the problem here. the ML control is not serviceable anymore. |

| Hello, I had a Condor 1600 with ML control, and it would look funny untill the monitor warmed up. Also, the monitor needed to be adjusted. (small plastic screwdrivers, tiny pots on the video board, etc.) If you look closely at the CRT module, it is made by a major CRT place. Go to their website, and they have a PDF on where to adjust V hold, H hold, scan, etc. Also, my Anilam would never make the beeping noise. You can still find boards for these controls, I have a few contacts as well. Did you buy one of the Condor 1600 lathes from AMC SALES in Dayton? If so, I fell for you as I got the only good one they had Carl Crawford www.speed-source.net C |
