Hey guys, I'm new to the CNC thing. I've been using mills and lathes for 4 years now and I've decided to get into CNC. I have done some researching on boards and I have a specific question. I've been looking at the Stepperworld FET-3 controller, http://www.stepperworld.com/ It says the board is controlled via parallel port. Heres the problem The computer I have does not have a parallel port, it has a serial port! Would the FET-3 work with through the serial port if I used an adapter? If not what might my options be for solving this problem? Are there any different boards that might work? Thanks alot, Mike |

| You can add a PCI parallel port card. A serial > parallel adapter won't work. Before you buy that Stepperworld board, do a little more research. You can get microstepping chopper drives which will give you better performance more efficiently for about the same price.
