When I saw a DC (?) servo motor on "Hurco MD1" mill, I was surprised! What kind of motor is inside? It must be DC servo motor, but it has six wires! I never saw something like that. Maybe I am wrong? Is it brushless DC motor....? "Electro Craft Permanent magnet servo motor - teach Model E-233 Part No. E72 21015 Ser No. 255” Anybody knows something about that? Thanks Last edited by mardus; 10-04-2006 at 01:51 PM. Reason: spelling |

| Tnx hurcojohn, but something is not clear: there are only six wires and encoder is on the rear side separately coupled. OK, 2 wires are pwm output from amp, 2 wires are tach feedback to amp, but other 2 wires?? I forgot tach encoder, yes.... but now I have 2 wires more ? I have no idea! You are soooo close ! Thank's again |

| there should be a heavy pair of wires (red and black), they are the pulse-width modulated output wires from the randtronics servo amps to the motor armature\brushes, then there is a smaller-gauge pair of wires (usually black and clear sometimes green and white), these are the tach feedback wires from the tach armature\brushes, then there is a separate 5-wire cable\connector (6-position, one wire missing) for the encoder feedback (positioning feedback), these wires are very small gauge...there will probably also be a green\yellow frame ground wire connected to the motor frame...this is from memory, and it has been awhile since i have been into an md1...i am saying total number of separate wires should be 9 or maybe 10 if there is a frame ground wire, but not all bundled in the same cable...working from memory, been awhile since i have been into an md1...regards... |

| Now I am sure that's DC brushed motor with tach. That is what I want to be sure. I am writing from memory too, because hurco is 100 km from here. I am in doubt to buy it or not because it's out of operation. Thanks again for your help and your time Regards Last edited by mardus; 10-07-2006 at 02:50 AM. Reason: spelling |
